I had the pleasure of attending this fun event last year and am so excited to see what this years theme brings with food and festivities! This years theme is:

Rebel, from Rockabilly to Rock & Roll!

On February 23rd, 2019, at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, the For the Love of Chocolate Scholarship Foundation presents REBEL, FROM ROCKABILLY TO ROCK & ROLL, a fundraising gala that will raise money for culinary student scholarships for various Chicago organizations.  The event will take place from 7:00 PM -12:00 AM and will bring together and showcase work from over 12 educational institutions, including, The Floured Apron, Washburne Culinary and Hospitality Institute of Kennedy King College, Joliet Junior College and Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP).   Students will work alongside and be mentored by various savory and sweets chefs that are also participating in the evening including Vanille Patisserie, Hilton Chicago, St. Jane Hotel, Eli’s Cheesecake, Cindy’s Rooftop Restaurant, Renaissance Hotel, NoMi Park Hyatt and the Waldorf Astoria, just to name a few.   Over 100 tables of Chicago’s top bakeries, restaurants, hotels and chocolate companies will be present along with many beverage companies including Maker’s Mark, CH Distillery, Tanduay Rum, Maison Georges Vigouroux, and Eris Brewery and Cider House.  The event is expecting 1,200 guests and will include live 1950’s Performances, DJs, Pin-up Fashion Show, a Penny Candy Store and much more!  

“Entering the pastry industry, I was anxious about following my dreams.  Being awarded a For the Love of Chocolate Scholarship validated my goal of becoming a major part of the pastry industry and also gave me the courage to go after my dream of owning and growing a successful business,” said Sophie Evanoff, President, Vanille Patisserie.  

About For the Love of Chocolate Foundation

For the Love of Chocolate Foundation awards scholarships to students in full-time programs at non-profit organizations, promoting commitment in pastry arts education for individuals looking to change careers, as well as individuals who have shown potential in the culinary field but have no formal pastry education.  To date, the Foundation has awarded over $800,000 in scholarships and affected over 270 lives.  Many of the receiving organizations such as The Floured Apron, Curt’s Cafe, After School Matters, and C-CAP all affect more than 5 students per award.
