New Years Eve 2017-Recap

January 4, 2017

Ahhhh so if you follow me on Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook you already know my NYE was a busy yet festive one!  For those who missed it below is a brief re-cap that might get you to thinking what you might want to consider next year.  Enjoy!

Myself and my partner in blogging Tavi of Chiataglance.com decided to hang out and bring in 2017 together!  Combined we can be super silly so I knew I was in-store for a fun night!

Well of course a girls got to eat so we started at Nonnina! From the talented team behind Chicago’s acclaimed Piccolo Sogno comes Nonnina, featuring classic and modernized takes on beloved family recipes. Partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo brought in Executive Chef/Partner Chris Macchia and longtime Piccolo Sogno team member Ricardo Brizuela as General Manager/Partner.  Nonnina echoes old school cooking techniques inspired by the partners’ “nonnas,” offering an upscale, yet approachable experience with a retro vibe. The menu, collaborated between Chef Macchia and Chef Priolo, brings grandma’s recipes to a sleek atmosphere. The Old Fashioned I ordered was perfect kick off cocktail for the evening.  Once seated we dined on a few dishes the antipasto salad and the mussels were two of my favorite!

Stop #2 since it was such a mild evening we strolled on over to Chi-Town Rising CHICAGO (January 1, 2017): Chicago celebrates the New Year with the second annual Chi-Town Rising, a tradition to celebrate the spirit of the city in welcoming 2017. The event featured a line-up of celebrity musical guests, including Chicago fan-favorite Jim Cornelison, award-winning hip hop artist and Chicago native Sir the Baptist, American Indie Pop band Saint Motel along with NBC News’ Weekend TODAY host Sheneille Jones; an iconic midnight countdown featuring the world’s largest New Year’s Eve icon, the 70’6” Rising Star, ascending 360 feet up the side of Hyatt Regency Chicago’s West Tower; and an epic fireworks display along the Chicago River.

Next STOP and our final destination for the evening was Boleo which took us from the streets of Chicago, Illinois to the streets of Cuzco, Peru – we were treated to an experience of a unique blend of cultures at Boleo Rooftop and Lounge we danced the night away listening to an eclectic variety of musical talent like DJ Sadie Woods and DJ Madrid. Entranced by Poi Dancers, Live Art, and an array of other sense-stimulating pop-up features.  It was indeed a fabulous evening!  If you have never checked out Boleo  suggest you add it to your to do list!  If NYE17 was in any way an indication of how my new year will be, you and I are all in for some truly fun and FABULOUS times!  Stay tuned!  XOXO
