Let’s go Galavanting!!!

Disco Balls, Shake Yo’ Groove Thing, Afro’s, Lava Lights, Polaroid Camera’s, and Plenty of Action …Studio 54 was the theme of this years Chicago Gateway Green’s Green Tie Ball XXIV. Chicago Gateway Green (CGG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to greening and beautifying Chicago’s expressway, gateways, and neighborhoods.  The program creates and maintains beautiful, sustainable landscapes along Chicago’s major expressways therby reducing air and noise pollution and adorning the gateways into the City’s communities.

The Green Tie Ball raises funds for CGG’s Expressway Partnership Program, this gala attracts Chicago’s most prominent public, political, and media figures, as well as young professionals.  and local celebrities, we fall into one of these categories…yea, we were local celebrities all dolled up in our 70’s finest!  This year, we were graciously hobnobbing with Liza Minelli and Andy Warhol (impersonators of course).  The gala also included dozens of Chicago’s top restaurants serving samples of their finest dishes , premium open bars with the finest mixed spirits, eclectic live entertainment on several stages, and one band who performed songs from the Disco era.   Green Tie Ball XXIV – “Studio 54″ | Chicago Gateway Green.  Special guest performance by Matt Legrand.   The room also had Chicago’s top DJ’s spinning hot tunes, Green Tie Ball XXIV – “Studio 54″ | Chicago Gateway Green as guest perused the silent auction with items from Oprah, Chicago Bulls, Bears, Sox, Fine Jewelry, and so much more.  Swag bags were given out to guest at the end of the night.  And….What is a gala without a charitable gaming hosted by Rivers Casino, we didn’t play so we didn’t win, but there were some big winners in the house!  But the biggest winner is the beneficiary…the greening and beautifying the city of Chicago!

This fun-filled evening was a true throwback to the year that started it all!  Be on the look-out for the date for next years Green Tie Ball, it is an event you do not want to miss!!!-Written by Toya Michelle 🙂
